A monthly fee with nothing visible against it feels like money thrown away. So here is what happens, including in a month when you hear nothing from us.
A full backup is taken and stored somewhere other than the site itself. A backup next to the server is not a backup.
The site is requested from the outside. If it does not answer, we get the alert, rather than you getting the phone call from a customer.
Updates are reviewed and applied, and the SSL certificate checked. On Plus and Growth you get a short report: visitors, enquiries, and anything that stood out.
Load time is measured again and compared against launch. If the site has slowed down, we find out why and fix it. That costs you nothing extra.
The domain is renewed, in your name. You are told before it happens, not after.

Usually yes. We look first at what the site runs on and how it was built. For a normal site that is straightforward. If it is carrying a pile of outdated plugins we will say so, and work out whether maintaining or rebuilding it is cheaper.
Text, prices, opening hours, swapping a photo, adding or removing a member of staff. A new page or a new feature is a project, and you get a price for it up front. We do not run a stopwatch to charge you for a small request.
Because the sites we build are light. No heavy plugins means cheaper hosting and less that can break, and we pass that difference on. We make nothing on the domain; that goes through at cost.
We get the alert, not you. In most cases it is the host and it is over within a few minutes. If it takes longer, you hear from us what is going on and what we are doing about it, in plain language.
